The grid position was not ideal at 16th place as the mechanics made a small mistake in positioning the car. The lap times kept improving for the first three laps with the track drying up further until a small contact with the barrier which damaged the front wing. Despite the incident, the lap times were still dropping until at lap 7 where a slower car made an unforeseeable move which caused the car to lock up the front wheels and pointed straight into the barrier at Maternity Bend and damaged the front suspension.

The best lap was done at lap 6 at 2'44.110 which qualified 15th on the grid just 1000th of a second behind car number 6 at 14th place.
